The 23-year-old Indo-American defeated Chris Bass, a Republican challenger. She ran for office in Illinois` 51st district and received 52.3% of the total votes. She posted about her joy on social media.

 

Nabeela Syed, who is of Indian origin, completed her graduation in Political Science and Business Administration from Berkeley California University. Along with working in many NGOs, she is fighting for women`s rights and on behalf of rape victims.
